Sand Dunes to Snow 2016

Fun in the snow!

At 5:30 am on Wednesday, 7th September eleven excited students, three staff (Ms Wickstead, Mrs B and Mrs J) and two bus drivers (Pete and Ray) left Bedourie to begin a journey to the Snow and Canberra.

What an epic adventure we had!

After many hours on the bus we finally arrived in Dubbo where we viewed the Zoo and the Old Gaol.

From there it was full steam ahead to get to Perisher to catch the OverSnow up to Charlotte Pass for a weekend of skiing and snow fun.

Sunday afternoon and it was back on the Oversnow and down to Perisher where Pete was waiting to take us on into Canberra.

The next three and a half days were hectic as we took in many of the educational experiences Canberra has to offer. We also had enough energy left each night to participate in recreational activities – Ten Pin Bowling (where we finally met Gloria Stuart who so kindly donated to our trip), Laser Skirmish (where Pete, Angus and Ms W battled it out for supremacy), and Ice Skating (where some of us spent more time on our bottoms than on our skates!).

All too soon it was Thursday lunch and time to retrace our steps homewards. We farewelled William in Charleville and Christian in Mt Isa, before we finally made it back to Bedourie in the wee hours of Saturday morning (thanks to the Hamilton Channels being uncrossable).

We would like to say a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to the parents and community members of Bedourie who tirelessly raised the money to help make our dream become a reality.
