At Bedourie State School, we recognise that a student’s wellbeing is just as important as their academic success. We are committed to supporting the mental, emotional and physical health of every student through both whole-school programs and individual support.

A key part of our approach includes the use of the Smiling Mind Learning Hub—a mindfulness-based wellbeing program designed specifically for schools. Through this program, students develop skills in:

  • emotional regulation
  • self-awareness and reflection
  • focus and concentration
  • resilience and stress management.

Smiling Mind is integrated into classroom routines and activities, helping students build lifelong habits that support positive mental health.

Our wellbeing framework also includes:

  • access to specialist support staff (e.g. guidance officers)
  • strong relationships and small-group support
  • active participation in Bedourie Busters
  • a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels valued.

Together with families and community partners, we aim to help every student feel calm, confident and connected.
